Watch Me When I’m Taller
Watch Me When I’m Taller is a South African crossover pop duo. The group plays a bombastic fusion of funk, RnB, hip hop, rock and house that is underpinned by a fascination for all things South African. Mixing rude basslines, witty sing-along melodies and an unconventional voice, Watch Me When I’m Taller is an unheard addition to the local music landscape.
The group is comprised of storyteller/vocalist Fruit Vendor and multi-instrumentalist Rosco Roman – they are obsessed with fat bass, alt chords and beats.
Watch Me When I’m Taller has collectively played in New York and St Louis (USA) and have rocked the house for Nobel Peace Prize winner Wole Soyinka and 9 time Grammy award winner Brian Michael Cox. They have graced many big shows locally including: Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts, RAMfest, V&A Waterfront Earth Hour, Cape Town Folk Fest, Llamaland Festival and hundreds of intimate shows in theatres, clubs, bars, churches, people’s houses and braais. They have shared stages with Die Antwoord, David Kramer, Kahn Morbee (The Parlotones), Prime Circle, Matthew Mole, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, Karen Zoid, Hemel Besem and Majozi.
The name Watch Me When I’m Taller speaks of chasing big dreams and thriving, while using adversity to show that ‘it can be done’. The group aims to play international stages like Wembley Stadium and Carnegie Hall, being advocates for South African identity on the global stage. They are also just really cool guys.
